My artworks are born from a love and need to create, and with an effort to release my thoughts into three dimensions. I believe an artwork must be created when its images persist to infiltrate one’s every thought. My thoughts, ideas, and experiences become mental images which in turn dictate the variety of materials combined to create high-concept, mixed media sculpture. But only predominately is this the case; at times it is the materials, the mundane items we come in contact with on a daily basis, and even the items discarded as trash that evoke thought and are then given new life and meaning through sculpture. Artwork can tell stories and create experiences. Of course art aims to accomplish this through imagery and only in rare instances with literary elements. Therefore whether or not my artwork transfers my thoughts to the viewer is not of particular concern; true meaning is assigned by and for the individual viewer. The artwork is purely a gateway to concept.
